Butter Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2¾ cups (330 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan or two 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pans.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs:
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Bake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes (for the 9×13 pan) or 25-30 minutes (for the round pans), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool:
    • Allow the cake to cool in the pan(s) for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Serve:
    • Once the cake is completely cool, you can serve it as is or frost it with your favorite icing. Enjoy your delicious butter cake!
