Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients (makes about 24 cookies)

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 cups (350 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional: 1 cup (100 g) chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.

  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Mix dry into wet: Gradually add the flour mixture into the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. Add chocolate chips (and nuts): Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts.

  7. Scoop onto baking sheet: Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.

  8. Bake: 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly undercooked — they will set as the cookies cool.

  9. Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips

  • Use room temperature butter and eggs for a smoother dough.

  • Don’t overbake — you want soft, chewy centers.

  • You can double the chocolate chips for extra indulgence!
