Apple Pie Recipe with Ice Cream on Top


  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger I used juice from freshly pounded ginger thumb size
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 6 to 7 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pastry for double-crust pie 9 inches
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large egg white
  • additional sugar I used stevia
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream optional


  • In a bowl, combine and mix the sugars, flour & spices. Then set aside. Get another bowl for the apples. Toss them with lemon juice. After that, add sugar mixture. Do more tossing to coat the apples.
  • Beat egg white until foamy and brush over pastry. Sprinkle with sugar. Cover the edges loosely with foil.
  • Preheat your oven and bake at 375° for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 20-25 minutes longer or until crust is a bit golden brown and filling has bubbles. Let it cool on a wire rack.
  • Add a scoop of your flavored ice cream on top. (Optional)
