Butter Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2¾ cups (330 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan or two 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pans.
- Cream Butter and Sugar:
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add Eggs:
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine Wet and Dry:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Bake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes (for the 9×13 pan) or 25-30 minutes (for the round pans), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool:
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan(s) for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve:
- Once the cake is completely cool, you can serve it as is or frost it with your favorite icing. Enjoy your delicious butter cake!
