Ingredients:
1 (1-inch thick) steak (such as ribeye, sirloin, or filet)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon oil (such as olive, avocado, or grapeseed oil)
1 tablespoon butter
Optional: garlic, herbs (such as rosemary or thyme), lemon or Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:
Remove steak from refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Pat steak dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.

Heat a heavy skillet or grill pan over high heat until it’s smoking hot.

Add oil to the pan and swirl to coat.

Place steak in the pan and cook for 2-4 minutes on each side until desired doneness.

Add butter, herbs, and optional garlic or Worcestershire sauce to the pan for added flavor.

Baste the steak with the melted butter and pan juices for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Transfer steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

Slice the steak and serve with optional sides such as roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
