π Ingredients
- 1 + 3/4 cups (220 g) flour
- 1 cup (120 g) finely ground hazelnuts
- 3/4 cup (65 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 + 3/4 cups (350 g) granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk (room temperature)
- 1 cup (240 ml) hot coffee or hot water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup (230 g) butter, at room temperature
- 3/4 cup (200 g) chocolate hazelnut spread
- 2 + 1/2 cups (310 g) sifted powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk or cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- A pinch of salt
- Optional garnishes: chopped roasted hazelnuts, grated chocolate, or chocolate sauce

- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and line two 8-inch pans.
- Mix flour, cocoa, ground hazelnuts, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream sugar and oil. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Add buttermilk and fold in dry ingredients just until combined.
- Add hot coffee, smooth batter, divide into pans, and smooth tops.
- Bake 30β35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes in pans, then transfer to wire racks.
- For frosting: Beat butter until light, add chocolate hazelnut spread, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
- Assemble: Frost first layer, add second layer, cover with remaining frosting, garnish if desired.
- Let cake rest 10β15 minutes before cutting for perfect slices and flavor.
