Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 30 mins | Yield: 5 dozen

These tasty bites of sausage balls combine my two favorites – sausage balls and cheddar bay biscuits. These sausage balls are packed with amazing flavors. You can prep these sausage balls in advance and store them in the fridge or freezer. Enjoy these dip sausage balls as appetizers and serve them with your favorite dipping sauce like honey mustard, Ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, and more!

Ingredients

1 pound sausage uncooked

1¼ c. shredded cheddar cheese

1 (8-ounce) package of cream cheese softened

1 (11.36-ounce) package of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix

HOW TO MAKE CHEDDAR BAY SAUSAGE BALLS

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.

Step 2: Place the biscuit mix and seasoning packet in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a dough hook along with the sausage, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. Beat well until blended.

Step 3: Into 1-inch balls, form the mixture and place the sausage balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. At this point, you can freeze the sausage balls.

Step 4: If baking right away, place the dish in the preheated oven and bake the sausage balls for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes:

You can combine the ingredients by hand if you do not have a stand mixer.

For the sausage, you can use any bread for breakfast sausage or Italian sausage.

For this recipe, we are using the sausage raw.

Feel free to add some red pepper flakes if you prefer a little kick.

In the sausage balls, I used sharp cheddar cheese. But you can use any of your preferred shredded cheese.

To portion out the dough, I use a small cookie scoop.

These sausage balls can be made in advance and just store in the fridge overnight.

You can also freeze the sausage balls, unbaked. To bake, simply add a couple of minutes more to the cooking time.

Use a gluten-free Red Lobster biscuit mix for gluten-free sausage balls.
