Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (150g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (120g) chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Make the Dough:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
    • Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  5. Shape the Cookies:
    • Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake the Cookies:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
    • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Serve:
    • Enjoy the cookies warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Tips:

  • Butter Temperature: Make sure your butter is at room temperature but not too soft to ensure the cookies have the right texture.
  • Don’t Overbake: For soft and chewy cookies, bake until just golden around the edges and still soft in the center.
  • Chill the Dough (Optional): Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can help the cookies maintain their shape and result in a chewier texture.

These classic Chocolate Chip Cookies are a timeless favorite, perfect for any occasion. Enjoy them with a glass of milk for the ultimate treat!
