Christmas ham bones

Don’t throw away your Christmas ham bones Y’All!
My mom used to make an Old Fashioned ham, potatoes, onions, and dumplings soup/stew out of her ham bone and leftover ham. I made some tonight! It may not look very appetizing, but it sure is delicious!
Recipe:
Boil 8-10 cubed potatoes in salted water until tender. In another pot boil your ham bones for an hour to remove pieces of ham off the bone. Take bone out of pot and pick remaining meat off the bone. Add the ham to the boiled potato pot. Don’t drain your potatoes. U want the starchy water. Add a diced onion. A half stick of butter or margerine. Bring to a rolling boil and turn down the heat to medium. Take one can of grands biscuits and cut each biscuit into 6 pieces to make dumplings. Drop dumplings into potato mixture and continue to cook until done, about 7-8 minutes. Salt, pepper to taste and add 1 tablespoon of sugar if desired. ( unless u have honey ham or glazed ham then omit the sugar)
Serve with a sprinkle of parsley or chives on top! Old fashioned Yummy stew!
