Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Filling:
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped
For the Sandwiches:
- 8 slices of sandwich bread (white or brioche works best)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam (optional, for spreading)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
Preparation:
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold in the chopped strawberries. Set aside.
- Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface.
- If desired, spread a thin layer of strawberry jam on one side of each slice.
- Spoon the cream cheese filling onto four slices of bread, spreading it evenly but leaving a small border around the edges.
- Top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches. Press the edges gently to seal.
- Prepare for Frying:
- In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and cinnamon until well combined.
- In another bowl, place the granulated sugar for coating.
- Fry the Sandwiches:
- Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
- Carefully place the sandwiches into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on each side, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Remove the sandwiches from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Coat in Sugar:
- While the sandwiches are still warm, coat them in the granulated sugar for a crispy, sweet exterior.
- Serve:
- Slice the sandwiches in half and serve warm with extra strawberries or a drizzle of strawberry sauce if desired.
