Ingredients:

For the Sandwiches:

  • 8 slices of sandwich bread (white or brioche works best)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam (optional, for spreading)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
    • Mix until smooth and creamy.
    • Gently fold in the chopped strawberries. Set aside.
  2. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface.
    • If desired, spread a thin layer of strawberry jam on one side of each slice.
    • Spoon the cream cheese filling onto four slices of bread, spreading it evenly but leaving a small border around the edges.

    • Carefully place the sandwiches into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on each side, about 1-2 minutes per side.
