Ingredients
For the dough:
1 cup + 2 Tablespoons warm water
1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 3/4 teaspoons kosher salt
3 cups bread flour, plus extra for dusting
For brushing:
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
Place all ingredients except the bread flour into the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Combine on the lowest speed.
Gradually add in the bread flour. Increase the speed to medium and let the dough knead for 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Remove the dough to a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, around 1 1/2 hours. I place mine in the oven with the light on.
Lightly flour a working surface and divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Then roll each piece of dough into a 7 inch breadstick log. Place them on a baking sheet lined with a nonstick baking mat or parchment paper. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size again, about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake about 12 minutes or until they’re golden brown on top.
While breadsticks are baking, combine all the brushing ingredients in a small bowl. Remove the breadsticks from the oven and immediately brush with the butter mixture. Serve them while warm.
