Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until crumbly.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking pan to form a crust.
- Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cherry filling.
- Sprinkle the remaining cake mixture on top, followed by nuts if desired.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
This dessert is forgiving; if you leave it in the oven for a few extra minutes, it will still taste great. Serve with Greek yogurt for added protein.
