Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the ice water, adding a tablespoon at a time until the dough comes together. It should be slightly sticky but manageable.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Filling
  1. In another bowl, combine the sliced apples with the cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and brown sugar. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.
  2. Fill each rectangle with the apple mixture, fold over, and seal the edges using a fork.
Baking
  1. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a lovely golden color while baking.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown and flaky.
  3. Let cool before serving.

Notes

Tips: Add a pinch of vanilla extract to the apple mixture for enhanced flavor. Ensure butter is cold to achieve flaky texture. Prepare dough a day in advance and keep it chilled until ready to bake.
