  • 1 piece red bell pepper, cut into thick slices Adds sweetness and color.
  • 1/2 piece onion, thickly sliced For extra depth of flavor.
Seasonings and Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Keeps things simple but flavorful.
  • 1.5 cups beef broth The secret to that savory sauce.
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger Adds warmth and a bit of zing.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce The flavor booster that ties it all together.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper A little kick.
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar Balances out the savory notes.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For thickening the sauce; it’s magic!

Method

Preparation
  1. Place beef, peppers, and onions in the electric pressure cooker.
  2. Add garlic powder, brown sugar, and soy sauce on top of the beef and peppers.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and stir to combine.
  4. Secure the lid tightly and set the pressure to high for 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Once done, do a quick release or let it naturally release for a more tender steak.
  2. Remove the lid and press the Cancel button.
  3. Switch the pressure cooker to sauté mode.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup cold water with cornstarch, then stir this mixture into the Instant Pot.
  5. Bring to a boil for 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve it up with rice or whatever your heart desires.

Notes

Sear the beef beforehand for more flavor. Let it rest after cooking for tenderness. Adjust cornstarch for desired sauce thickness. Avoid cooking garlic too long to prevent bitterness.
