Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini, your choice!)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) for that melty goodness
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half for a lighter version
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (for a smoky kick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for sautéing)
Optional Garnish
  • to taste Fresh herbs (like parsley) for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while you gather your ingredients.
  2. In a medium skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until they are translucent and fragrant.
  3. Toss in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until it turns golden.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream along with salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir gently, allowing the mixture to thicken for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, mix the cooked pasta with the creamy sauce and half of the shredded cheese.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it sit for about 5 minutes before digging in.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature ingredients when possible. You can assemble the dish a day in advance, cover it, and pop it in the fridge. Just bake it directly from the fridge, adding a few extra minutes to the bake time.
