Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb 80/20 blend for juiciness, ground lamb gives a rich twist.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Plain or Italian seasoned; helps bind the mix.
  • 1/4 cup grated onion Grated super fine for moisture.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds savory flavor.
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped Adds herbal freshness.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano Brings classic Mediterranean flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt For seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper For seasoning.
  • 1 large egg, beaten Acts as the glue.
  • as needed tablespoons oil for frying Olive oil is recommended for flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef or lamb, breadcrumbs, grated onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, black pepper, and beaten egg. Use clean hands to combine—be careful not to overmix.
  • Scoop out small portions (about the size of a golf ball) and roll them gently between your palms. Alternatively, you can form patties.

Cooking

  • Pour enough oil into a frying pan to lightly coat the bottom and heat over medium. Test the oil by dropping in a small piece of meat; if it sizzles, you're ready.
  • Gently add meatballs in batches, leaving some space between each. Fry until browned all over and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Turn them gently for an even crust.

Serving

  • Transfer the cooked meatballs to a plate lined with paper towels. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, tossed in marinara, or in fresh pita.

Notes

For best results, let the shaped meatballs chill in the fridge for 15 minutes before frying. This helps them hold their shape. Consider using fresh herbs for enhanced flavor and test one meatball before frying the full batch.
