Instructions
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the cake pans.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
Pour in buttermilk and gently fold in mashed bananas.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Baking
Divide the batter into prepared pans and smooth the tops.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool completely before frosting.
Frosting and Assembly
For the frosting, beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually mix in powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla.
Spread frosting on the top of one cake and sprinkle with peanuts (and bacon if using).
Place the second cake on top and frost the entire cake.
Decorate with chocolate ganache, peanut butter cups, banana slices, and edible gold glitter.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Chill the cake before slicing for cleaner layers.
