  • 2 cups cooked pasta Any type of pasta can be used.
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey Use lean ground meat for a healthier option.
  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can 15 oz diced tomatoes Drained or undrained based on preference.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Choose your favorite cheese for topping.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup frozen vegetables (optional) Consider peas, corn, or mixed vegetables.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey with onion and garlic until browned.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and frozen vegetables. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Combine the cooked pasta with the meat mixture.
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until heated through and cheese is bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool, then freeze individual portions or store in the fridge.

Notes

Use fresh onion and garlic for the best flavor. Don't skip cooling fully before freezing to preserve texture and prevent freezer burn. Variations include swapping beef for turkey or adding bell peppers. For a vegetarian option, use lentils.
