Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Stir in the vanilla extract. If you’re making chocolate ice cream, add the chocolate syrup and mix until combined.
- Cover the mixture and refrigerate it for 2 hours.
Churning and Freezing
- Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions, usually around 20-30 minutes.
- Once it reaches a soft-serve consistency, fold in chocolate chips or chunks if desired.
- Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container, smooth the top with a spatula, and freeze for at least 4 hours.
Serving
- Scoop the homemade ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy!
Notes
Experiment with different flavors, like almond or peppermint extracts, or add fruits for variations. For a dairy-free version, use coconut or almond milk. Store in an airtight container to prevent ice crystal formation.
