Preparation
- Start by baking the chocolate cake according to the instructions on the box. Typically, mix the cake mix with oil, water, and eggs, pour into a baking pan, and bake until a toothpick comes out clean (usually around 25-30 minutes). Let it cool completely.
- Once the cake has cooled, carefully slice it in half horizontally. Take one layer and spread a generous amount of softened vanilla ice cream over it. Place the other half of the cake on top of the ice cream layer to create a sandwich.
- Gently pour the hot fudge chocolate sauce over the top layer of the cake, allowing it to drizzle down the sides.
- Place the entire cake in the freezer for about 1–2 hours to firm up before serving.
- Once chilled, slice into pieces and serve with a dollop of whipped cream and optional chocolate shavings or sprinkles.
