Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened butter, 1 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Next, stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Mixing
- In a separate bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips if using.
Baking
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For added flavor, you can mix in a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg. Chill your dough for 30 minutes before baking for enhanced texture.
