Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Room temperature for easy creaming.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Finely chopped for best texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time until well blended.
Mixing
  1. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  2. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
Baking
  1. Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For chewier cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. You can prepare the dough in advance and freeze it.
