Instructions

Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside, reserving a splash of pasta water.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened (about 3-4 minutes).

Cooking the Meat Sauce

  • Add ground beef or lamb to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon and cooking until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finishing Touches

  • Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing until well combined. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
  • Serve in bowls, topped with grated cheese.
