Ingredients
  

Cake Base
  • 1 cup flour All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter Use room-temperature butter for a smooth batter
  • 2 pieces eggs Use room-temperature eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract for best flavor
  • 1 tsp baking powder To help the cake rise
  • 1/2 cup milk Whole milk preferred
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Pour batter into a greased baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let cool and serve warm.

Notes

Serve slices warm. Recommended with ice cream, powdered sugar, or jam for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
