Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    In a small bowl, mix the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center, then pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until the dough begins to come together.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise:
    Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Shape the Dough:
    Once risen, punch down the dough to release air bubbles. For thin-crust pizza, divide the dough into two portions. For thick crust, use the whole dough. Roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Prepare for Baking:
    Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let it rest for 15 minutes. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Assemble and Bake:
    Add your favorite toppings to the dough. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
